This year Börzsöny Baroque Days celebrated its twentieth jubilee year. We hoped to celebrate this round and prestigious anniversary in a worthy way, with a rich and colourful programme. However, we had also faced grave financial uncertainty in the beginning. Therefore, for the first time in the festival’s history, we launched a fundraising campaign, and we were extremely grateful for the many donations we have received from our loyal audience and friends of Börzsöny Baroque Days. We would like to extend our thanks to all of you who contributed to the festival. The cooperation with the Haydneum — Hungarian Early Music Centre has been a significant help. We are also grateful for the financial support from partner municipalities as well as from sponsors.

As in previous years, it was a great pleasure to experience the atmosphere getting ever livelier as the programme moved forward. We were delighted to see a full house at every concert as well as familiar faces: the majority of the audience came to several concerts (many attended all of them), travelling all over the region, to the picturesque villages of Börzsöny and the Danube Bend. We were also happy to discover new visitors again, and particularly pleased to see how many young people and families with young children were again well represented in the audience. Surely, Börzsöny Baroque Days have now taken root in the region and have established a reputation and a steadily growing regular audience. We are proud to see where the festival has developed during the past 20 years, and we are also glad to acknowledge that it also gave a lasting musical experience for many people.

Encouraged by this year’s success, we have already started to work on the 2024 Börzsöny Baroque Days programme, and we hope that we can organise the festival for you for many years to come.

Thank you all!
