Performing

Programme

Sonora Hungarica Consort may be called the “host” of the festival since they have been founders and returning participants of theevent. This year they are going to give a concert at a new venue, Verőce, one of the beautiful and well-known villages of the Danube bend, at the foot of the hills. Now Börzsöny Baroque Days can join the bustling artistic life of Verőce, which became a popular holiday resort of the capital’s artists and intellectuals at the end of the 19th century. At this concert Soma Dinyés, an outstanding and versatile early music artist is performing on positive organ. The programme includes a rich selection of works by great Italian and Spanish composers of the Baroque and Early Baroque period.

Sonora Hungarica Consort

The Sonora Hungarica Consort was founded in 1992 by historical musicians. Their repertoire consists of chamber music from the early music period (Renaissance and Baroque). The “core” of the consort is a trio: recorder, harpsichord or positive organ and viola da gamba, which is often completed with singers and other musical instruments. In this way they become able to perform smaller oratorios and orchestral pieces (cantatas, concertos, etc.). Since their foundation the consort has given concerts in churches and concert halls of Hungary and of foreign countries. They have three albums yet: French and German Baroque Chamber Music from the 17—18th Century (2001); German Baroque Chamber Music from the 17—18th Century (2003); Aliento Seráfico — Baroque Chamber Music from Italy & Spain (2006).
